Potty Protest After Violations Posted on Web Site
Residents of the Angus Valley Area Neighborhood Association in Austin have started what
they claim is a “bowel movement” after a list of residents violating city codes showed up on some board meeting minutes on the association’s Web site.
The toilets are there because Karen [Flanagan] says the association is too picky and too rough on the neighbors. She says the group uses “street police” to look for violations, including RVs parked out where people can see them, company trucks left next to the street, improper brush cutting, lawns not mowed enough, stuff like that. She said several of the neighbors had to take drastic steps to make their RVs invisible.
So, to bring attention to what she sees as an increase of busybodiness in her neighborhood, she began chasing down used toilets from a plumbing supply company and from contractors. “We glove up when we touch the toilet, because we don’t know the source,” Karen said. After she scores toilets, she turns around and doles them out. [Austin American Statesman]
Now its great to see these folks helping Keep Austin Weird (though other communities have also spontaneously got flushed as well).
